What are ‘Pilates Retreats’?
Fitzroy Pilates Studio began the idea of running Pilates retreats in 2004. At the time many other types of retreats including yoga, were available nearly worldwide however, there were no retreats for Pilates. Anthony Lett and Kym Croft decided to begin offering Pilates retreats by putting their love of health and wellbeing together with travel to create an opportunity for others to join in and benefit as well.
The retreats are offered in a relaxed manner with rejuvenation, wellbeing and relaxation being the essence. Whether it is an adventurous international retreat or a fun local weekender, it is always an experience that leaves everyone feeling fulfilled.
A ‘typical’ day
A typical retreat includes a small group of people (up to 12) who travel and meet up with Anthony and Kym at the retreat centre. The retreats focus primarily on Pilates and Stretch Therapy with some retreats having reformers available too. The retreats are enhanced by meditation, massage, walks to places of interest and other leisurely activities including cooking, bike riding, swimming and snorkeling/scuba diving depending on the location. While a daily program is available, everyone is free to do as little or as much as they like. No prior experience is required, so beginners are always welcome and for those more experienced will be met with a challenge!
